PORTALES, N.M. - Jaden Isler hit two free throws with nine seconds left on the clock to seal the 85-82 victory for McMurry University Friday night over Northern New Mexico. The War Hawks led by 30 with 8:49, but was able to withstand a 41-14 run by NNMSteven Jones and Bryce Hill each recorded 13 points in the contest, with Jones adding eight rebounds. Dominick Walker recorded a game high 14 rebounds.? The War Hawks shot 48 percent from the floor hitting six three point buckets in the victory.

McMurry started the game with a 10-0 run over the first three minutes of the game capped off by a Hill three point bucket. With the score 35-24 in favor of McMurry and 5:49 left in the half the War Hawks strung together an 11-2 run to take a 20 point halftime lead.

McMurry took its first 30 point lead with 9:56 left in the game after an Anthony Johnson 3-pointer. After the two teams traded buckets Northern New Mexico put together a 41-14 run to end the game. After the lead was cut to one by NNM McMurry's Isler was fouled. He sank his two free throws to put the game away 85-82 in the War Hawks favor.

The win moves McMurry to 8-2 on the season. The team will return to American Southwest Conference action Thursday in Clinton, Mississippi against Mississippi College at 7:30 p.m. McMurry is currently in fourth place of the ASC West Division.
